Coming soon– Solar Pyramid Flights

Dragon’s latest flights will feature the most exciting new structure to be built in the North since the Angel of the North – the Solar Pyramid.

Due to start construction soon, the Solar Pyramid will be more than just a 150 feet tall sundial – the largest timepiece in the world. Supported by the Greenwich Royal Observatory, it will be the most exciting art meets science project in the UK.

The Pyramid will consist of three towers leaning towards an apex 45 metres above ground level without actually touching. The steel superstructure of each blade-like tower will be clad in highly-reflective, mirror-polished, coloured stainless steel to reflect and capture the movement of the skies and the changing landscape and will make the Solar Pyramid energy self-sufficient.

The Pyramid will be situated between junctions 29 and 30 on the M1. Sited on a man-made hill overlooking a lake, the structure will be a striking and dominant feature in the landscape, glittering by day and glowing luminescent by night.

Dragon have been the Pyramid’s supporters and retained helicopter services supplier since 2003, and are proud to be able to offer the official trips to and around this exciting development.
