Dragon Helicopters can bring a helicopter to your school for one of the most memorable days in a child’s primary education. The day is educational as well as exciting, providing knowledge and supporting literature that relates to Key Stages 1 and 2 of the National Curriculum:

• the pupils are given a talk about how helicopters fly (which also covers aeroplanes and birds);
• we provide teachers with related supporting materials covering the core curriculum subjects of literacy, numeracy, science, history, design and technology and physical education;
• each child can receive a book, ‘A Helicopter Came To School’, which contains information about the history of helicopters, how helicopters work, the parts of a helicopter, jobs helicopters do, helicopter safety and what pilots do, as well as fun items such as helicopter-related puzzles and pictures to colour;
• we can bring our photographer along to take photos of all the classes next to the helicopter;
• we can take aerial photographs as we fly into your school, so your pupils may want to form the school logo or a smiley face on the playing fields.

There are a variety of funding options – if your school fits certain criteria, it may be possible for the cost to be covered by parents purchasing a copy of ‘A Helicopter Came To School’, which can contain the photos of their child’s class and an aerial shot of the school. Even if your school doesn’t fit the required criteria for this, it may be possible for funding to be obtained to cover the cost of the helicopter’s visit and a copy of the book for each child.
