Multi-Engine Type Rating for PPL(H) Holders Theoretical Knowledge Course

Additional qualifications are required for pilots wishing to type rate onto multi-engine helicopters but who do not hold a professional pilot’s qualification. The requirements for entry to a type rating course for multi-engine helicopters for PPL(H) holders is the satisfactory completion of a theoretical knowledge course covering:

Aircraft General Knowledge (comprising airframes, systems and powerplants and instruments and electronics); and

Flight Performance and Planning (comprising mass and balance and performance)

to Commercial Pilot’s Licence standard.

Dragon Helicopters’ Multi-Engine Type Rating for PPL(H) Holders Theoretical Knowledge Course received CAA/JAA approval in 2006.

PPL(H) holders wanting to undertake a multi-engine type rating must also have:

a valid ICAO PPL(H);

a valid Class 1 or Class 2 medical;

a minimum of 100 hours pilot-in-command experience.
