JAA Instrument Rating Course on AS365
It used to be the case that having an instrument rating
could effectively guarantee you a job flying offshore. However,
in these days when the oil industry is contracting due to the current economic
situation, this is no longer so. Completing your instrument rating on the industry-standard AS365 will give you a better chance of successfully securing offshore employment, as your potential employers won’t have to pay for your type rating and you’ll gain added AS365 experience.
The IR course consists of:
an AS365 type rating course – either as an initial or additional twin type;
40 hours tuition
in a twin-engine FNPTII/IFR/MCC flight simulator;
10 hours instrument
flying in an IFR AS365.
The course cost depends on whether this is your first twin type
or whether you already have a twin on your licence:
Total IR course
cost with initial twin rating 56,810
Euros (£50,732*).
Total IR course cost with additional twin rating 47,810
euros (£42,695*).
