Oil Industry-Ready JAA Instrument Rating Course
It used to be that having an instrument rating
would effectively guarantee you a well-paid job flying offshore. However,
in these days when the oil industry is contracting due to the current economic
situation
and
reduced oil
prices, this is no longer the case. The more relevant training and
experience gained by a pilot,
the better the chance of successfully securing employment.
Dragon Helicopters have therefore developed this Oil
Industry-Ready JAA Instrument Rating Course, comprising:
instrument rating conducted
on industry-standard workhorse AS365 Dauphin;
helicopter underwater escape training;
10 rig platform landings.
The IR course, which includes the AS365 type rating and
10 oil rig platform landings, consists of:
a minimum 40 hours tuition
in a FNPT II flight simulator;
10 hours instrument
flying in an IFR AS365.
The course cost depends on whether this is your first twin type
or whether you already have a twin on your licence:
Total IR course
cost with initial twin rating 49,400
Euros (£45,100*).
Total IR course cost with additional twin rating 40,400
euros (£36,900*).
Any additional simulator time or flight training required
will be charged at the standard hourly rate.
Helicopter Underwater Escape Training
We recommend adding a
basic offshore safety three-day course, which includes helicopter
underwater escape training. This is attractive to potential employers
as it reduces costs and the training time required before
the pilot can begin work. The training meets the UK and Danish
sectors offshore oil and
gas
exploration
and production requirements.
Total Cost £632.50.
