The Famous Original Dam Busters Helicopter Pleasure Flight

In March 1943, the Lancaster crews of 617 Squadron began training for a top secret mission. Based at Scampton in Lincolnshire, the Squadron’s training was conducted along the Derwent Valley in the Derbyshire countryside West of Sheffield. The mission was the ‘Dam Busters’ raid on the Ruhr Valley.

Dragon Helicopters’ famous ‘Dam Busters’ pleasure flights offer the opportunity to fly along 617 Squadron’s training route down the Derwent Valley and over the twin dams. This is our most popular flight and provides fabulous views of the beautiful Peak District countryside. Duration is approximately half-an-hour. Since the closure of Sheffield City Airport, flights start and finish at the Moorlands pub at Owler Bar – download directions here.

We issue a flight boarding card which can be given as a gift on the day of a celebration: the flight date can be pre-arranged or left open for the recipient to book later. Flights are flown in a Bell 206 Long Ranger which accommodates six passengers and usually take place on Sundays, with occasional Saturdays.

Remaining Dates for 2010: Sunday 24th October, Saturday 20th November. Additional dates may be added subject to demand or if required due to weather postponements.

Price: £159 per person including VAT. Discounts are available for groups of four or more. Click here to buy Dam Busters flights online.
