Dragon Helicopters’ JAA CPL(H) Theoretical Knowledge Distance Learning Course

This is the first JAA-approved CPL(H) TK course within the Joint Aviation Authorities group of countries and was approved by the UK Civil Aviation Authority in November 2004. The course has been specially produced by Dragon Helicopters to fulfil the requirements of a Commercial Pilot’s Licence (Helicopters) course without need to take the thirteen ATPL(A) aeroplane examinations, which contain a lot of content irrelevant to the helicopter industry. The course leads to nine exams pertinent to helicopter VFR operations – no IFR elements are covered.

The course comprises two modules, both with distance learning and classroom phases. Module packs include the training manuals appropriate to the selected module and a number of self-assessment and progress tests. On completion of each module, there will be a residential element in South Yorkshire, with mandatory attendance. These will be arranged on dates prior to sitting the JAA exams at Gatwick.

The course presently costs £1,900 including VAT when bought as a package, plus postage. This includes both distance learning phases, both classroom phases and all the subject manuals. Most students prefer to pay for one module at a time. Module 1 costs £1,100 and Module 2 £800.

Please note – price increase: from 30th April 2008 the cost of the CPL(H) Groundschool Course will increase to £2050 including VAT. CAA exam fees will increase to £63 per subject from 1st April 2008.
