Dragon Helicopters’ JAA CPL(H) Modular Flight Training and Night Rating

Dragon Helicopters provide flight training towards completion of the Joint Aviation Authorities’ Commercial Pilot’s Licence (Helicopters) via the modular route.

The course consists of a minimum of 35 flight hours, which cover areas such as advanced navigation including use of radio navaids, emergency procedures, sloping/uneven ground take-offs and landings, low-level manoeuvring and quick stops, restricted landing sites and commercial flight conduct. Within this are included ten hours of instrument flying and five hours to gain a night rating. You need to be a JAA PPL(H) holder with at least 155 hours total time on helicopters and to have completed all the JAA CPL(H) ground examinations before you can commence the flight training course: please download our guide below for further details of pre-entry requirements.

Our in-depth training ensures the student is fully prepared for their 170A pre-commercial flight test check ride and subsequently – the big day – their commercial skill test!

Commercial flight instruction can be undertaken on Robinson R22 or R44, Schweizer 300 or Bell 206 Jet or Long Ranger helicopters (subject to aircraft availability).

Dragon Helicopters believe that students shouldn’t be charged a premium for commercial flight instruction, therefore prices are the same as our rates for PPL(H) flying training. Discounts are available for advance pre-payment of ten or twenty hour blocks.

Please contact the office with details of your preferred aircraft type for current instruction prices.
